We are a participating theater with the Black Improv Alliance as part of the 100 Black Improvisers Partnership. Are you Black and interested in improv? BIA is committed to matching improvisers of all ages with theaters throughout the country providing scholarships for their programs.
Recipients will be enrolled in an eight-week long, ColdTowne class of their choice (not including electives, or workshops) and will be able to attend shows and performances produced by ColdTowne Theater, at no cost.
Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship will not be barred from reapplying. Scholarship recipients may reapply, only if they have submitted their Scholarship Experience Survey before the application deadline has passed.
Applicants must not be currently enrolled in an improv, sketch, or comedy class at another theater or conservatory.
Applicants must be at least 18 at the time of applying.
Applicants must be able to arrange their own transportation to and from classes and shows.
Applicants must be prepared to attend and participate in an eight-week long ColdTowne class of their choice, with only one unexcused absence permitted.
Applicants must be prepared to attend at least one show or performance produced by ColdTowne Theater during their class session, at no cost.
Applicants must be prepared to complete a Scholarship Experience Survey at the end of the class session.
ColdTowne is offering this scholarship to promote representation, diversity and inclusivity amongst Austin performers.
It is ColdTowne’s goal to have as many different individuals as possible have their voices heard on stage, be free to create art, and receive every opportunity to perform the best improv Austin has ever seen.
